Kitscoty
Welcome
BIGGEST LITTLE SPORTS CENTER

Kitscoty residents are on the move, the village is in full bloom with an active housing market.
WELCOME - The Village of Kitscoty and members of the Village Council extend a warm welcome to anyone arriving in the village. We would be pleased to have you choose our friendly community as your new place of residence. Kitscoty is truly enriched through the large number of volunteer groups and associations "pulling together". A true example of this is the new Kitscoty & District Community Hall and Community (Wesley United) Church both had Grand Openings the first part of 2006. The two new facilities are an extreme asset to the community and show a togetherness that makes living in Kitscoty extraordinary!
The slogan "Biggest Little Sports Center in Alberta" is symbolic of the enthusiastic participation of the residents and the various sporting facilities available. In addition there are several cultural and fraternal organizations active in the village.
REAL ESTATE is moving fast in the village as it has become a popular location for people who are looking for that unique small-town atmosphere. The Southridge Glens Phase IV, consisting of 26 residential lots & ten multi-family lots opened in the spring of 2007. There are only a few lots still available for Phase IV but Southridge Glens Phase V will open in 2009. The Village of Kitscoty is situated at the junction of the twinned (Yellowhead) Highway #16 and Highway #897, the link to Cold Lake to the north & Highway #14 to the south. The village is located approximately midway between Edmonton and Saskatoon and is within short commuting distance of Lloydminster, only minutes away.
The village is proud of the excellent education facilities available to the youth. Buffalo Trail Public School Division has confirmed its confidence in the village by providing two modern schools, grade one through grade twelve. Our community also offers an enthusiastic pre-school and kindergarten program. Municipal Library Services are provided by the Kitscoty Hilltop Library Board in conjunction with the school libraries.
Additional services are provided to the residents by the RCMP, who have a detachment based in the village, and also by the Alberta Health District Unit sub-office, which operates out of a newly constructed facility to meet the public's health needs. The village is also the home of the municipal offices of the County of Vermilion River. For the sporting enthusiast or fan, Kitscoty has both the facilities and organizations required for baseball, curling, figure skating, golf, hockey, lacrosse, and soccer activities. Also available are a variety of service clubs, youth organizations, and cultural groups. In addition, the growing business sector has much to offer residents. The commercial enterprises operating within the village providing for most of everyone's daily needs. Please consider Kitscoty for your new home and community when relocating.
Yours very truly,
Daryl Frank

Area Overview
Kitscoty offers small town heart with big city amenities near by.
The Village of Kitscoty is located approximately midway between Edmonton and Saskatoon (225 km and 295 km respectively), and is within short commuting distance of Lloydminster.
The first settlers came to the district in 1905, and was incorporated as a village in 1911. Kitscoty originally serviced a trading area stretching from Cold Lake in the north to the Battle River in the south. Kitscoty is named after a famous cromlech, three large stones in a tripod arrangement, found near a settlement in England known as Kits'Coty House. Kit's Coty House or Kitigern's Coty House (translated as Kitgern's Stone House) is the remains of a Neolithic tomb site of Kitigern. It is located on Blue Bell Hill near Aylesford in the English county of Kent. It is one of the Medway Megaliths. Kitigern was the brother of Vortimer, and leader of the Britons. He was killed in the battle of Aylesford, in 455. His brother and the Britons constructed the stone structure in honor of his memory, and to forever mark his final resting place.
Kitscoty is located in a prime agricultural area which has much heavy oil activity, both which provide employment opportunities for the residents.
There is an abundance of raw land available for development for both residential and light industrial/commercial parcels. Water distribution and sewer collection facilities have been upgraded to accommodate future growth.
The Village of Kitscoty is a proud to be an "ACE" (Active, Engaged & Creative) community.
Kitscoty's greatest resources are its fine people, great hospitality and uplifting spirit!
Join the Village of Kitscoty in celebrating our centennial in 2011!
